History: This railway was built by The Stoke-on-Trent Model Engineers, track laying began in 1996 and has been added to over the last 5 years.
Report:
This wonderful miniature railway is at first a little difficult to find, being only 2 miles from the centre of Stoke. But It's worth the effort of finding it (there are signs put out by the railway volunteers).
The journey begins in a very nice covered 2 platform station, you are then taken past numerous sidings, a turntable and engine sheds before heading out around the park's animal enclosures containing sheep, goats, cattle and horses, then crossing a small river on a very substantial 2 track metal girder bridge. The line then continues around the aviaries before coming to an automatic level crossing complete with gates an audible warning, sounding " beware of trains"
This railway is certainly worth a visit it has been built by a very knowledgeable and friendly group of miniature railway engineers. The railway is open most weekends and is mostly steam hauled.
